To Register As An Individual (without a team):
Come to our Open Scrimmage at Water Taxi Beach Monday August 2nd at 6:30pm prepared to play, as teams will be formed out of players at the same skill level. You’ll spend a couple of hours playing volleyball and meeting people, and by the end of the evening, you’ll be on a team!
BRING YOUR CHECKBOOK—you must pay that evening in order to be placed on a team. Teams will consist of 10 players, each of whom will pay $105 for the full 8-week season. This fee includes all court costs, professional refs, prizes, one of our famous Big City T-shirts, and more! (Teams can elect to have fewer than 10 players, in which case they will split the $1050 team fee evenly amongst themselves—fewer players means more playing time!)
Once placed on a team, you and your new teammates will have an opportunity to indicate your preferred nights of play - Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. The league will assign your team a regular night of play based on that info. Your team will also be scheduled for a pre-season Team Ranking Scrimmage, to determine your team’s level of play and make sure you are placed in the proper skill level. (It also gives your team a chance to practice together before the start of the season.) If you want to play on the same team as a friend, bring that person to the Open Scrimmage with you. By the way, if you can’t make it to the Open Scrimmage, call our office the week after the Open Scrimmages. By then, we frequently know of teams looking for players.
General Info:
Your team will play the same night each week, either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, making it very easy on your schedule! Please note that due to weather and event conflicts with Water Taxi Beach, teams may play double-headers some evenings and might have to play a couple of matches on a night other than the one assigned. Start times vary week to week, but typically are 6:15, 7:15 & 8:15. Each night of play consists of three 21-point games against an opponent using rally scoring. You will be placed in one of three different co-ed skill levels, guaranteeing you exciting matches each week!
We play in all weather situations except thunder and lightning. If it looks like rain bring a change of clothes and keep them in the tent.
There are toilets at the Beach, but no changing rooms. We will be giving teams t-shirts which you must wear. No other uniforms are acceptable. Other rules and regulations will be distributed to the teams once they have registered.
Co-ed rules require at least one woman on the court at all times, but never more than four men.
And lastly, please be aware that all players must be at least 21 years of age as Water Taxi Beach is a licensed bar and no one under 21 is permitted on the premesis.
