To Register A Team

Next, whether yours is a new or returning team, you will need to register your team online. A $250 non-refundable deposit is required when you register your team. Captains can pay the balance of the $1250 registration fee ($1000) with either individual checks from teammates, or one check (or charge) for $1000. Big City sells out every season, and only teams that have paid their deposits are guaranteed a spot in the coming season. Additionally, teams must be paid in full before their first match.
Note: If your team is a company-sponsored team, make sure you register online as a company team, which you must complete and submit, instead of the standard registration form. (Company-sponsored teams are not required to leave a deposit, but an authorizing company agent must sign off on the form.)
The league fee includes all gym rental costs, professional refs, prizes, 10 of our famous Big City T-shirts, and more! New Teams, once we receive your roster and fee, we’ll call you to arrange a pre-season team Ranking Scrimmage to determine your team’s level of play. You can schedule your Ranking Scrimmage for Monday July 12th. The time spots available are generally 7:00, 8:00 & 9:00 and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Is your team a few players
short? Feel free to come “shopping” for free agents
at one of our Open Scrimmages, where individual players come
to get on teams.

Night-Of-The-Week Choices:
On the roster form, there is a place
to indicate which nights are best for your team, Mon-Thurs, in
order of preference. Your team will be assigned a regular night
of play based on this info. (If someone is playing on two different
teams in Big City, please note this on the roster form, so we
can try and schedule the teams for different nights.) Please
take the time to read the night-of-the-week info very carefully—if
you put down a wrong night choice, it could result in your team
not getting into the league, as well as forfeiting your $250
deposit.
Important: Every player must fill out an injury
waiver form. This form will be provided to you by the League—or
better yet, click here to download one and have them filled out
in advance, saving time at your Ranking Scrimmage. No player
may take part in a Big City game unless he or she has handed
in a completed waiver form.
General Info:
Big City games are played in top quality Manhattan gyms (mostly on Manhattan’s
upper east / upper west sides & Greenwich Village). By the end of the
season, each team will have played in all of our beautiful facilities. All
are easily accessible by subway, bus, or helicopter. Your team will play
the same night each week (either Mon, Tues, Wed, or Thurs), making it very
easy on your schedule! Start times vary week to week, but typically are 6:30,
7:45 & 9:00. Each night of play consists of three 15-point games against
an opponent. You will be placed in one of seven different co-ed skill levels,
guaranteeing you exciting matches each week!
Please note: Co-ed rules require at least one
woman on the court at all times, but never more than four men.
A full set of rules—which closely follow USAV rules—is
posted on our web site. We encourage all new players to read
these rules! Also, please note that each team must bring a quality
volleyball to every match.
And lastly, please be aware that children under
12 are not permitted in any of our gyms (due to insurance regulations).
