Big City Volleyball's Girls' Youth League (GYL) is for 7th–12th grade girls looking for a competitive and fun volleyball league without the demands of club-level travel. With weekly practices, weekend matches, and divisions in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, players get the full team experience—coaching, jerseys, refereed games, and a season-ending All-City Championship.
Perfect for school team players or advanced class participants, GYL offers a supportive and competitive environment that builds skills, teamwork, and love for the game.
NEW Players:
Must attend at least one mandatory tryout to be considered for placement on a team. View tryout events and register below.
RETURNING Players:
Are not required to try out again. They can register directly for the league with discounted Early Bird Registration before October 1st.

Sessions are held every Wednesday, with meeting times alternating weekly between 12:30 PM and 8:00 PM.
12:30 PM Sessions: 10/7, 10/21, 11/4, and 11/18.
8:00 PM Sessions: 10/14, 10/28, and 11/11.
Winter 2026-27 Season Dates: Nov. 30th, 2026 - Feb. 7th, 2027

8 Weekend Refereed Matches including Playoffs
Match Days: Saturdays
All-City Championship - Sunday, February 8th (FOR TEAMS THAT QUALIFY)
Match Time Frame: 11 am-6 pm
2 divisions: 7-8th grade / 9-12th grade
Once a Week Practice Days and Time: M-F between 6pm - 9:30pm (Depending on location)
NO GAMES or PRACTICES 12/21 - 1/2

All players are guaranteed to play a minimum of 2 sets per match
Brooklyn Practice location:
Park Slope (Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday)
Queens Practice location: Forest Hills (Monday / Friday)
Manhattan Practice location:
Upper West side / Upper East Side / West Village (Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday)
In order to participate, all NEW players must attend a tryout to be considered for a spot in the league. Players will receive results letters via email after their tryout. $25 Registration fee is a **TRYOUT FEE ONLY**.
